Our Curriculum

Early Learning Place preschool uses the Creative Curriculum approach which balances both teacher-directed and child-initiated learning, with an emphasis on responding to children’s learning styles and building on their strengths and interests. While including clear content in learning the alphabet, pre-reading, number concepts, science, social studies, the arts and technology, we recognize the primary importance of social/emotional development in children’s early learning. The following are just a few of the items we have continued to develop in the past 22 years of our program:

Large and fine motor skills and development
ABC recognition of upper and lower case, including sounds
Emergent literacy skills
Developmentally appropriate social skills
Math: Recognition and counting numbers and objects
Recognition of colors and shapes
Music: Songs, finger-plays, and poems
Social Studies: activities to help children learn about the world and people around them through cooperative interactions
Science: experiences, exploration, and investigation
Physical movement
Story Time
Sharing Time
Art Experiences
Integrated thematic units and projects including: puzzles, blocks, book time, classroom visitors, and other appropriate experiences
Beginning computer activities
